General Requirements:

J1 Interns: Enrolled students or recent graduates within 12 months after graduation from a Post-Secondary Institution (offline/online study): Vocational, Diploma, Certificate, University Studies, or Graduate Studies (D1/D2/D3/D4/S1/S2 graduate within 12 months after graduation).

J1 Trainee: Graduated students from a post-secondary institution (more than 12 months ago) with at least one year of work experience outside the USA; OR individuals with at least five years of work experience outside the USA. Must have work experience of at least 1 - 5 years in the hotel industry (same position applied for).
Note: Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in the same position applied for if they did not study/graduate from a hospitality college.

J1 Interns/J1 Trainee: 18 - 32 years old (at least 18 years of age).

J1 Interns: Hospitality experience with a minimum of 6 months.

J1 Trainee: Work experience of at least 2 - 5 years in the hotel industry (same position applied for) or recently graduated (within the last 60 months/5 years).

Study Requirement: College/University education in hospitality with a minimum of 6 months of full-time study.

Good conversational English skills.

Recently graduated students within 12 months.

Passport, valid for at least 6 months past your program end date.

Do I Qualify as an Intern or Trainee?
Internships are open to:
- Students currently enrolled full-time in a degree or professional certificate program in a college, university, or other post-secondary academic institution outside the U.S.
- Individuals who have graduated from these institutions within 12 months of the internship start date.
- Internships must be directly related to the intern’s academic field of study.
- Interns must have finished at least one year of their degree program before their program start date.
- Age from 18 to 32.
- Internships may be 1-12 months in duration.
Traineeships are open to:
- Individuals who hold a degree or professional certificate from a college, university, or other post-secondary academic institution outside the U.S. and at least one year of related professional experience from outside the U.S.
- Individuals with at least five years of related professional experience from outside the U.S.
- Training programs must be related to applicants’ occupational fields of study.
- All trainee applicants must also be able to document their current and previous related occupational experience from current/former employers outside the U.S.
- Age from 18 to 32.
- Training programs may be 1-12 months in duration.
To participate in this once-in-a-lifetime experience, you must:
- Have proficient English skills to perform in both social and training activities.
- Have a permanent residence in your home country, which you do not intend to abandon.
- Intend to depart the U.S. upon completion of the program. You may establish this by presenting evidence of economic, social and/or family ties in your homeland.
- Train in the U.S. in a field that would be useful in your homeland and therefore induce you to leave the U.S. upon completion of studies.
- Be committed to training in the U.S. for the duration of the program.
- Qualify for basic health insurance provided by the sponsor organization for the duration of the program.
- Be in good health to perform the program outlined.
- Have sufficient funds to cover all expenses and accommodation on arrival in the USA.
